Luckily, the arrangement involving Japan and South Korea on the issue of the comfort women has improved relations between the two nations. However, certain issues have to be addressed. The agreement appears to have been postponed. More work will be required to help move the agreement.
It’s apparent that both sides wish to resolve this issue. The President of South Korea and President Abe reached an agreement. Both wished to improve relations between both nations. South Korea’s President made it clear that if an improvement of connections were to happen, this arrangement would have to be achieved.
The government admitted to Japanese soldiers’ participation in the abuse of comfort women. Many comfort women have come forth with testimonies. These comfort women testimonies remember their experience during the second world war, when they have been used as comfort women by Japanese soldiers. President Abe released a statement stating that he and the members of the authorities were sorry for whatever happened to the comfort women and they will do anything they can to help out.
Within the arrangement, in actuality, the government promised to provide one billion yen for a base that the authorities will set up to help encourage the comfort women that are still alive.
Included in the agreement, the two countries agreed they will criticize each other. They will talk about the problem in a way that is vital before bodies like the United Nations. Additionally, both countries agreed that it can’t be revised as Japan keeps to their side and that the decision is final. Moreover, there’ll be a statue in front of the Japanese embassy in South Korea in memory and in commemoration of the comfort women.
It’s apparent that this is for both countries. In the past, leaders of the government stated that the validity of the comfort women’s claims were to be doubted. They aren’t guilty and said statements that the clams were some thing of the past and that we will need to proceed from them, and that the soldiers aren’t at fault. This announcement from President Abe that responsibility is taken by him is a massive step forward. Additionally it is a step forward on South Korea’s side. South Korea government officials did not need to improve relations between both nations and weren’t keen to come to any arrangement. People who reside in South Korea aren’t prepared to put the issue at any cost and aren’t prepared to compromise in any way and feel that way. Hence, South Korea’s President is brave to have the ability to move ahead with this because it’s the ideal thing to do. Even though Japanese folks seem to approve of this arrangement people are divided about the arrangement in both countries. Because there’s resistance in both countries, it is critical that it doesn’t continue to be an issue that polarizes the people of both nations and pushes the two nations 47,, that the two countries proceed with this arrangement.
